My Break Free Experience

Last week we, the MiExchangers, visited a rehab center Break Free. The rehab center is owned and run by Ps Carl. Ps John had it on his heart to bless them and help them build a church. We as a group spent two days building as much of the church as we could.

I was divided into the wood cutting team. Basically, we have to cut beams into specific sizes to build the frames of the building and later we had to custom cut side panels for the walls of the building. Though this was the main team I was to function in, I also spent a lot of time helping on the painting team. We had to paint all the wood panels with a tar based paint – which took a while.

The highlight of the trip was the relational component of it. Traveling to Break Free Hein and I were driving in the same vehicle and we had awesome holy conversations. We spent time talking about the messages and personal revelations. We also spent time praying in the Holy Ghost and thanking God for this wonderful seed that we could sow. What really stood out to me was that even in these day to day moments we could still tap the life of God in each other and minister to each others spirits. These conversations also has eternal value and it knitted us closer together as brothers in Christ.

While working in the cutting team, there were sometimes when we had to cut large quantities which heightens everybody’s triggers, but was really cool for me that even in those moments it was evident that Holy Spirit was helping us. We ended up working like a well-oiled machine to the point where we went to ask for ‘work’. Praise the Lord for the help of Holy Spirit.

One of the MiExchangers has been through the Break Free program. At first, I was concerned for Him because I was unsure if this trip would open up old memories, but on the contrary, this trip was a very positive experience for Him. Seeing him having this liberating experience of realizing that he is really free from his past habits was very special to me. Having spoken to him, mentioned he now has a testimony to share with people who are now going through what he did and that he is very grateful to Holy Spirit for helping him through the process. He said looking back, even though it took a while, he is grateful for saving his life and seeing how God guided him step by step.

Praise the Lord for His ever-living Word shift and the Holy Spirit shifting, transforming and changing us into the image of Jesus.
